Why we’re so excited about protectiongurupro

It’s been a big week for us at Protection Guru with the official announcement on Tuesday of our new service, ProtectionGuruPro. The service will launch very soon, but in the meantime it’s been great to hear lots of positive feedback and reaction from advisers and those in the industry.

Ultimately, our aim is to help grow the protection market and ensure more families are protected, whilst helping advisers to select the best products for their client’s needs. By comparing both quality and cost, we believe that ProtectionGuruPro will be game changer (in fact a few people have used that term) and hopefully drive better consumer outcomes.

We’ll be running a series of demo webinars next week, so if you haven’t already done so be sure to sign up here.

Turning to our regular Protection Guru content, we published a number of insights this week to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

We started the week on Monday with an detailed look into how protection plans can help clients manage their mental wellbeing. This insight focused specifically on the variety of mental health support benefits offered by insurers, intended to provide clients with both preventative and rehabilitation support.

With Tuesday dedicated to our ProtectionGuruPro announcement, regular insights resumed on Wednesday with an important article highlighting why income protection is the best solution for protecting a clients mental health. We called upon our independent medical experts to summarise some of the differences in the way mental health is covered on critical illness and IP plans (CI still outsells IP), whilst Rob Harvey highlighted some of the other key reasons why income protection is arguably the most important protection recommendation an adviser could make.

Thursday’s insight covered the topic of protection insurance and mental health awareness from a slightly different angle, by highlighting a recent ABI initiative to improve underwriting processes and communications when dealing with mental health disclosures. Rob’s article drew upon the insightful content from one of our recent Protection Forums, where we discussed this subject in detail with a number of advisers and industry experts. Within Rob’s insight you will also find a link to some free mental health training courses, which we would encourage all advisers to take the time to look at.

We finished our busy week with a round up article on using claims case studies to save protection policies. This has been published in support of a recent ‘guide to saving protection policies’, published by the PDG, AMI and IPTF.

Finally, a friendly reminder that there is still time to save 45% on tickets to our next Empowering Advice Through Technology (#EATT2022) conference next month.
