World Alzheimer’s Day, National Fitness day and the Protection Industry back in full swing – end of week summary 25 September 2020
It is great to see the protection industry back in full swing with the important news from iPipeline this week that quote volumes have returned to pre lockdown levels. Here is my summary of the rest of what happened on Protection Guru this week and other key things I think are important for the Protection community.
I know a growing number of advisers are using the information from Protection Guru articles to support their own consumer facing social media posts, thank you to those who tagged us in their posts as the source, it is really appreciated.
To support this, we are going to be producing a range of studies looking at the days, weeks and months that focus on specific illnesses or other activity. The first examples appeared this week addressing both World Alzheimer’s Day – Who Does What and National Fitness Day – How Do Insurers Help Improve a Clients Fitness
Lockdown has brought many new highly talented advisers into the spotlight, especially through our Protection Guru Forums. Zanele Sibanda is one of these rising stars and I’m delighted to welcome her first contribution to our How to talk protection with different clients series.
On a personal note, I’m absolutely delighted to welcome the first contribution to Protection Guru from Sam Shaw. Sam is an outstanding journalist and presenter amongst other things is doing some excellent work over at Octomembers and it’s great to also now have her involved in our project. Sam’s first contribution is on Who provides additional support to hospitalised clients.
Adam Higgs provided his usual “Everything you need to know” study today, this time looking at helping clients return to work using Income Protection plans.
Further enhancements have been made to the iPipeline product features report based on Protection Guru data which brings together both pricing and product quality data into a single report and includes independent medical assessment of critical illness wordings as well as comprehensive analysis of quality features for life, mortgage protection and income protection products.
We will give you a more detailed update next week but in the meantime further information can be found at https://uk.ipipeline.com/productfeatures/
We are really proud that our partnership with iPipeline is delivering an unparalleled service to advisers, more and more of whom are telling us that this service takes protection advice to another level.
Please remember our next Protection Guru Forum is on 7th October from 10:30 am to 12:30 am and will cover.
What can insurers do to improve their claims process?
- What are advisers major frustrations?
- What do insurers do really well?
- How can insurers better engage with advisers throughout a claim?
- What are the little things insurers could do to improve the claims process for consumers and advisers?
How can we make it easier to get cover in force in the current environment?
- Can advisers be proactive in obtaining medical data?
- What are a patients legal rights to their own medical data?
- Initial applications up to non-medical underwriting limits?
- Should cover be segmented across insurers?
If you have not already booked your ticket you can do so here https://protectionguru.co.uk/2020/09/11/october-protection-guru-forum/. We already have over 50 delegates confirmed representing very broad spectrum of the adviser community. This is sure to be a lively and informative debate.
Many people will know that in more normal times I’m typically in the US at least once a month for an industry conference. One of the best events I visited last year was the LIMRA life insurance conference, obviously in current circumstances this has to go virtual but that does make it easier for more people to participate.
The Protection Guru team will be attending virtually, and I would urge others who want a global perspective and what is going leading edge thinking in our industry to register, you can find more details at this link.
