Introducing the newest Protection Guru…. Steve Davey

A bit about me – Born and bred in Cardiff, South Wales, I’ve enjoyed a diverse career history, which has led me to where I am today. This includes calling penny-records to generate sales opportunities for colleagues, several sales and sales management roles in the protection insurance, commercial insurance and energy sector, regional sales coaching and national sales training for a large firm within the hygiene sector.

Most recently, I worked for an award-winning protection advice firm based in Cardiff, where I completed just under 5 years’ service. During my time there, I enjoyed a lot of success where I worked my way from being a Protection Adviser up to Head of Protection & General Insurance; working with some of the best and brightest in the industry at all levels.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my two boys (aged 6 & 3), listening to an eclectic mix of music (primarily blues/rock) and am a member of my local Krav Maga club.

Likes – Family time, watching Premier League football and cooking.

Dis-likes – Cauliflower rice, slow-moving crowds/groups in shopping centers and moths.

My views on PG – When Protection Guru approached me about the opportunity to work for them, I didn’t hesitate to accept the offer to come and work with some of the greatest minds and visionaries in the industry. I was already very familiar with their work, having received and read the insights emails on a weekly basis and using the website as a reliable and up-to-date information source when it came to product and insurer specific details.

Many people will agree with me when I say that the name ‘Protection Guru’ is synonymous with accuracy, quality and unapologetic honesty when it comes to the information offered to advisers. It’s not surprising that they won ‘Disruptor of the Year 2024’ at the recent European Fintech Awards, as they continue to challenge the status quo with the view to ensure they’re offering the best quality information available on all insurer offerings.

What’s exciting me – Other than joining a great team of people, I’m looking forward to adding a new dynamic and perspective to the team, to assist Protection Guru in reaching more Advisers, providing them with the insights and information they really want to know, to assist them with giving the very best advice to their customers. Having worked for a highly respected protection insurance brokerage as an Adviser, I’ve gained the knowledge and experienced the challenges faced by Advisers, so have an intimate understanding of what challenges they face and therefore what solutions are required to overcome the challenges.

Having completed my first week here, I’ve had the opportunity to learn about everything that Protection Guru Pro has to offer and I’m really excited to share this with advice firms. I had no idea that PG Pro could offer such a vast range of tools and services, which is something I wish I had know in my days as an Adviser. I look forward to discussing these with Advice Firms moving forward, demonstrating the knowledge available and the time-saving functions and processes included.

There is a lot more to learn and I look forward working more with the team and you the Protection Guru audience.
