The ability to tailor cover to client’s needs
Mix and Match cover
Royal London’s personal and business menu plans enable clients to mix and match the cover that is most suitable for them and their budget whether that is Life Cover, Critical Illness or Income Protection.
Diabetes Life Cover
For clients that might otherwise find it difficult to obtain cover, Royal London offers Diabetes Life Cover which provides more flexible underwriting for those with diabetes and rewards those that keep the condition under control.
Lifestyle Reviews
Clients that have been given an increased premium due to lifestyle choices such as smoking can ask for a lifestyle review. If they have made positive changes to their lifestyle they may be able to benefit from reduced premiums.
Comprehensive Critical Illness Cover
Royal London’s Critical Illness Cover is comprehensive as standard with broad cover for the most commonly claimed on conditions. For additional payment conditions they will pay 25% of the sum assured up to £25,000.
Flexible Family Cover
Children’s Critical Illness can be added or removed at any time so clients do not need to pay for cover they cannot claim on. Clients have a choice of enhanced or standard cover depending on the breadth of cover required and budget.
Advanced Surgery Benefit
If a client requires one of 12 different types of surgery covered within Royal London’s full critical illness payment conditions, they will pay out in full as soon as they are placed on an NHS waiting list.
Children's Conversion Option
Where a client has Enhanced Children’s Cover, their child is able to take out a standard critical illness plan of up to £50,000 without any medical underwriting within 6 months of the child cover ending.
Free Cover
For Life Protection and Critical Illness (personal or business protection), the client or business is covered for the sum assured up to £1m or £500k respectively from the date the full application is received for up to 90 days or until the plan is put in force.
Income Protection Choices
Royal London’s Income Protection includes Fracture Cover and Hopitalisation Benefits as standard. A wide range of deferred period options are offered along with full term and 1, 2 and 5 year limited benefit payment periods.

80% of applications are given an immediate decision and Royal London have added status checks for applications, the ability to download client packs and online trusts.
Helping Hand
The financial payment if the worst happens is only one aspect of what Royal London protection plans provide to customers. Every customer that takes out a Royal London plan will also be provided with access, from the day the plan starts, to a wide range of support to help them and their family not only with the impacts of injury, illness or death, but also health and wellbeing.
A client will be appointed with a dedicated nurse from RedArc who has the appropriate expertise and experience for that client’s specific needs.

Making sure the proceeds of a claim go to the right people
In the event of a claim it is very important that the proceed from a clients’ protection plans go to the right people. Where this is a death claim , the last thing potential beneficiaries will want is for the money to be tied up in the deceased persons estate which can sometimes take months to sort out.
Royal London offer advisers a range of options covering simple needs or more complex needs to help ensure that the proceeds of a claim go to the right people and can bypass the clients’ estate.

For single life products which are not written on a life of another basis, clients can nominate up to 5 beneficiaries when completing the application. The beneficiaries are then written into the terms and conditions and on death Royal London will pay the proceeds directly to them. The beneficiaries can be changed at any time by informing Royal London.
Complex needs
Where a client’s situation is a little more complex, Royal London offers online, signature free trust capabilities as part of the application. All relevant parties wll receive a copy of the trust once completed.
If you are unable to complete the trust for any reason in advance of the application, Royal London provide PDF trust forms which only require the signature of the policyholder. Royal London only need to see a copy of this trust to register it to the policy.
