Guardian offer a great extra to all advisers

Guardian offer a great extra to all advisers

I’m always delighted when I see insurers act on an idea that has emanated from our Protection Guru forum meetings. A great example is the announcement yesterday that Guardian are providing free virtual GP service to advisers. The rationale behind the suggestion was that if Advisers have had first-hand experience of the service, they are in a better position to recommend it to clients. Well done to Guardian for acting so promptly. Advisers can find out how they can personally take advantage of this offer from Rob Harvey’s article in the link above.

At the beginning of the week Amanda Newman Smith kicked-off our analysis by looking at who makes it easy to keep mortgage life cover on track if interest rates move? On Tuesday’s it was Rob’s turn again this time looking at how can businesses provide an income protection benefit to a director or single employee?

Wednesday brought a study from Amanda focusing on National Bereaved Parents Day 2021, outlining what child funeral cover is available on protection plans?

As well as the announcement from Guardian on Thursday, we published the summary of our recent Protection Guru Forum session on Using Claim Stats to Gain Consumer Trust – part 3 from our April Forum. Back in May we covered the first session on Making Sick Pay More Flexible and we’ve also published the second session exploring Adjusting Cover. Anyone from an insurer or re-insurer that did not make the event should find these transcripts invaluable, as they are packed full of discussions about real issues advisers face with clients and changes advisers believe would help them achieve more protection sales.

We ended the week with the next of our everything you need to know insights, this week looking at Enhanced payments on critical illness cover 5 things you should read.

The next Protection Guru Forum meeting is this coming Tuesday 6th July at 11am. The meeting we will explore:

  • What impairs advisers’ ability to sell income protection as part of a mortgage advice process or to existing mortgage holders?
  • What are the potential impacts of the proposed new FCA consumer duty on protection advisers?

Advisers can register for a free ticket to join the meeting via this link.

On Benefits Guru Jason Green examined on Tuesday how providers meet ongoing governance duties, followed by Thursday’s insight looking at Workplace pension system downtimes – ensuring disruption is kept to a minimum.

Our Adviser Software.com site this week published a detailed look at a new system from Fintegrate, that aims to streamline financial planning processes around investment selection and client reviews.

I’m sure everyone will be willing England on this Saturday night, so fingers crossed for a great game but an even better result.

Enjoy your weekend.

That’s great to hear if they did and we’d certainly welcome more insurer’s doing this, for the reasons highlighted.
