Whilst many of us spent the last couple of years indoors more, life has not been without it’s hazards. According to NHS data shared earlier in January, during 2020/21 thousands of people have required hospital treatment as a result of accidents and injuries. Whilst some of these sound almost comical, including elderly people hospitalised after falling from playground equipment, the data does serve to highlight that many of us face the risk of injury on a daily basis. Protection insurance such as income protection and critical illness are typically thought of as providing cover for serious, in some cases life-changing illness. However increasingly insurers are providing additional protection for traumatic inuries, accidents, fractures and hospital stays.
