Our 2nd birthday, the LifeSearch awards and everything else that happened this week

It has been a really happy week at Protection Guru, not least because we celebrated our second birthday on Thursday. We believe the site has come a long way in the last two years and I want to say a big thank you to all our users.

We are also immensely proud that we have two nominees in the Protection Distributors Group Protection Leader of the Year at the #LifeSearchAwards2021 with both Adam Higgs and myself being nominated. The awards are at 5 pm next Wednesday 10th March and if you’ve not already booked your place you can Get your ticket here.

Although we are really pleased with what we have delivered for advisers over the last two years Protection Guru will be delivering more great new services to help advisers give better protection advice to more people in the coming months. This means we need to grow our team and we have a vacancy for a technical expert to come and join us.  Find out more about this great job here Are you our next Protection Guru or do you know them?

Our Protection Forums continue to be one of the most popular events in the industry and on Tuesday we are looking at some really crucial issues including:

  • What do we need to do to make Income Protection even more relevant in 2021?
  • How should insurers best keep advisers aware of the progress of applications and claims?
  • What are the systems advisers need insurers to deliver information/data to?

Many insurers are now using these sessions as an invaluable way to understand how they need to improve their products and services for advisers and their clients so it’s a great opportunity for firms to say what they need. If you haven’t already booked your ticket, you can get one here.

Another service we have created for advisers is our Product Features Report joint-venture with iPipeline. This enables advisers, in just 60 seconds, to add analysis of the quality of different products and identify which contracts actually represent best value for individual customers. This can lead to better customer outcomes and fewer lapses.  Anyone who has not seen this service which is free to all iPipeline Solution Builder users should attend the iPipeline & Protection Guru Product Features report webinar next Wednesday 10th March at 2:30 pm. You can register from the link above. I believe advisers and insurer broker consultants would really benefit from joining this 30 minute session on how to make it really easy to find the best value products for clients.

The person who comes to join our team will help produces analysis and insight for advisers every day of the week. Here are examples of studies we have published in the last five days.

On Monday Amanda Newman Smith looked at increasing life and critical illness cover without underwriting this study which explored a number of important issues it’s valuable to understand, highlighted great features from Guardian, Aviva, Royal London Zürich and LV=.

We strongly believe that everybody should have income protection cover even those people with modest incomes, so on Tuesday we looked at catering for cost conscious clients with short term income protection needs. On this occasion Aviva, British Friendly, Legal & General, Royal London and Zürich made it into a list of companies worth serious consideration. As always find out why from the link above.

On Wednesday we looked at Why age is more than a number when researching relevant life cover and how different providers approach business protection many different companies had different features to be commended so it’s really worth going over this analysis. Having selected a business protection provider it’s important to get individuals protected quickly so the next day we looked at how business protection covers clients during the application.

Over on Benefits Guru our colleague Jason Green came up with two great studies this week; the first exploring how some of the best ways to drive member engagement with workplace pension when contributions are being made for them.  Also, as Xero is one of the most popular software packages for small businesses he explored how users of the system could make it much easier to make their workplace pension contributions by looking at which workplace pension providers can integrate payroll with xero.

Next week is clearly going to be very busy week next week with our Forum, The Product Features Report webinar and the LifeSearch awards, I hope I get to see you at one if not all of these.

Have a great weekend.
